Call to Order – The meeting was called to order by Mary Minnick, Chair at 10:04 a.m.

a. Mary Minnick, Chair led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

b. In addition, John Helge, Manistee County read the Land Acknowledgment

Statement.

2. Guest Speaker

Michael Lynch, Candidate for 2nd Congressional District.

Michael talked about his signs being misrouted to Nevada. That he would be

taking possession of them by this coming Thursday. He stated he was not

running against Moolenaar, but running for the people of Michigan. He realized

the Moolenaar is Project 2025. Vote for Michael Lynch, because Moolenaar is

5. A Quorum was deemed present.

6. It was moved by John Helge, Manistee County and seconded by Ed Miller, Mason

County to ACCEPT THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. Dallas Dean

suggested an addition of Requests to New Business.

7. The Minutes of the July Meeting were presented without changes and were approved

without motion.

8. Chair’s Report

Mary Minnick, Chair stated because of time constraints, her Chair’s Report could be

found on the 2nd Congressional District Website

https://www.michigan2nddemocrats.com/ .as well as on the information table. She had

been putting out information flyers regarding Project 2025 with Trump’s picture on it on

Community Corkboards. In addition, she had visited the Mecosta Democratic Party

Office.

9. Vice Chair’s Report


John Helge Vice Chair’s report could also be found on the website. He apologized that

as a Democratic leader he had let us all down by not having Harris-Walz signs and lit

available. He was doing his best to get them to us at the earliest opportunity.

10. Treasurer’s Report

Dallas Dean, Treasurer Newaygo County reported the balances of the Federal, State,

Administrative, and Texas Hold ‘em Accounts. The State Account had a balance of

$4,273.86 the Administrative Account had a balance of $28.55, the Federal Account had

a balance of $12,836.85 and the Texas Hold’em had a balance of $8,231.61. It was

moved by K.P. Mahoney of Muskegon County and seconded by Ed Miller, Mason County

TO ACCEPT THE FINANCE REPORT AND TO PAY ALL BILLS. MOTION CARRIED.

11. Secretary’s Report

Peggy Raddatz, Secretary Manistee County stated she had received no correspondence.

12. Committee Reports

a. Rules and Bylaws Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County, Committee Chair

stated there was no report at this time.

b. Finance and Fundraising Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County,

Committee Chair stated the Committee had extended the Sponsorship deadline

by two weeks for the Blue Gala.

c. Candidate Recruitment and Support Committee – Ed Miller, Mason County,

Committee Chair stated there was no report at this time.

d. Political and 2nd CD Party Organizing Committee – Cathy Willermet, Isabella

County stated there was no report at this time.

e. Communications Committee – Mary Minnick, Lake County, Committee Chair

reported she had been working on the 2nd CD Website and the 2nd CD FB page

receives 20 new followers each week.

f. Policy and Resolution Committee – John Helge, Manistee County stated there

was no report at this time.

g. Audit Committee – Robin Aslaskon, Mason County stated there was no report at

this time.

13. Unfinished Business

There was no Unfinished Business.

14. New Business –

Dallas Dean, Treasurer, from Newaygo County moved and it was seconded by John

Helge, Manistee County TO PAY $1,000 TO THE INTERNET AND PHONE PROVIDER OF

THE MUSKEGON DEMOCRATIC OFFICE. MOTION CARRIED.

After discussion, it was moved by Steve Savage, Barry County and seconded by K.P.

Mahoney, Muskegon County, SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT SUPPORT EACH OF

THE FOUR DELEGATES TO THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION WITH A CHECK

FOR $1,000. MOTION CARRIED.

It was then moved by Dallas Dean, Treasurer from Newaygo County and seconded by

Betsy Moskowitz, Mecosta County, TO DONATE THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED BY LAW OF

$5,000 TO THE CAMPAIGN OF MICHAEL LYNCH. MOTION CARRIED.


GOOD AND WELFARE

We heard Good and Welfare reports from Mecosta County, Barry County, Isabella County,

Gratiot County Wexford County, Newaygo County and Manistee County. In addition, Dallas

Dean gave an update for Treasurers and reminded us of the upcoming Michigan Democratic

Party Convention, Saturday, August 24th in Lansing where the 2nd CD will meet.

ADJOURNMENT

15. Adjournment

The agenda was completed. Therefore, Mary Minnick, Chair declared the meeting

adjourned at 12:47 am.

The meeting continued with four in-person presentations by, Chris Crain, Candidate for State

Representative District 101, Lois Maassen, Candidate for State Representative District 89. K.P.

Mahoney, Candidate for State Representative District 102, and Tim Odykirk, Candidate for State

Representative District 92. It was moved by Ed Miller, Mason County and seconded by Stan

Opal, Newaygo County TO APPROVE A DONATION TO EACH OF THESE FOUR CANDIDATES’

CAMPAIGNS FOR $1,000 EACH. MOTION CARRIED.

It was then moved by K.P. Mahoney, Muskegon County, and seconded by Mark Everhart, Lake

County TO DONATE $100 TO THE CAMPAIGNS OF TRACY RUELL, CANDIDATE FOR STATE

REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 100 AND JASON DILLINGHAM, CANDIDATE FOR STATE

REPRESENATIVE DISTRICT 65. MOTION CARRIED.
