MINUTES

10:00 a.m.
Call to Order – The meeting was called to order by Mary Minnick, Chair at 10:02 a.m.
a. Mary Minnick, Chair led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
b. In addition, Mark Everhart, Lake County read the Land Acknowledgment
Statement.
2. Guest Speakers
a. Ashlyn Jones from Movement Labs spoke about their grants program for local
democratic parties. They paid money for activities that built strong parties.
b. Michael Lynch, Candidate for 2nd Congressional District.
Michael talked about not gloating over the Trump v Harris Debate results. If we
need to talk about Trump’s performance we can just say he sounded old and
weak. We should talk about possibilities. He is filled with optimism. He is filled
with optimism about his own campaign. He will be putting videos on a YouTube
Channel and even on TicToc. He has large signs. Just email him if you have a
good locations. As always, vote for Michael Lynch, because Moolenaar is not

5. A Quorum was deemed present.
6. It was moved by Ed Miller, Mason County and seconded by Michael Lynch, Gratiot
County to ACCEPT THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. Cristy Freestone
suggested an addition of Requests to New Business.
7. It was moved by Michael Fields, Gladwin County, and seconded by Ed Miller, Mason
County TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST MEETING AS PRESENTED. MOTION
CARRIED
8. Chair’s Report
Mary Minnick, Chair stated because of time constraints, her Chair’s Report could be
found on the 2nd Congressional District Website
https://www.michigan2nddemocrats.com/ . Our Keynote Speaker for the Blue Wave
Gala will be Jocelyn Benson.
9. Vice Chair’s Report
John Helge Vice Chair’s report could also be found on the website.
10. Treasurer’s Report
Dallas Dean, Treasurer Newaygo County reported the balances of the Federal, State,
Administrative, and Texas Hold ‘em Accounts. The State Account had a balance of
$1983.86 the Administrative Account had a balance of $28.55, the Federal Account had
a balance of $3135.10 and the Texas Hold’em had a balance of $8,231.61. It was moved
by Ed Miller, Mason County and seconded by Lynne Cavazos, Oceana County TO ACCEPT
THE FINANCE REPORT AND TO PAY ALL BILLS. MOTION CARRIED.
11. Secretary’s Report
Peggy Raddatz, Secretary Manistee County stated she had received no correspondence.
12. Committee Reports
a. Rules and Bylaws Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County, Committee Chair
stated there was no report at this time.
b. Finance and Fundraising Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County,
Committee Chair stated the Committee had would be sending out the tickets to
those folks who had purchased them. Dallas also announced the Texas Hold ‘Em
dates for the coming year April 7-10, May 12-15, June 30-July 3, and December
1-4.
c. Candidate Recruitment and Support Committee – Ed Miller, Mason County,
Committee Chair stated there was no report at this time.
d. Political and 2nd CD Party Organizing Committee – Cathy Willermet, Isabella
County stated there was no report at this time.
e. Communications Committee – Mary Minnick, Lake County, Committee Chair
reported she had been working on the 2nd CD Website and the 2nd CD FB page
with updates about the Blue Wave Gala.
f. Policy and Resolution Committee – Michael Lynch, Gratiot County stated there
was no report at this time.
g. Audit Committee – RobMark Everhart, Lake County stated there was no report
at this time.
13. Unfinished Business
There was no Unfinished Business.
14. New Business –
It was moved by Christy Freestone, Gratiot County and seconded by Ed Miller, Mason
County TO HAVE THE SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT PAY THE RENT AND UTILITIES
FOR SEPTEMEBER, OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER FOR THE GRATIOT DEMOCRATIC PARTY
IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,907. MOTION CARRIED.
GOOD AND WELFARE
We heard Good and Welfare reports from Wexford County, Gratiot County, Oceana County,
and Mason County. In addition, discussion fell as to where to purchase Harris-Walz signs. Two
options are E&S Graphics 989-875-2820 or The Old Print Shoppe, 248-895-6061.
