Finance and Fundraising Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County, Committee Chair stated there was no report at this time.
Candidate Recruitment and Support Committee – Ed Miller, Mason County, Committee Chair had been ill, therefore there was no report at this time.
Political and 2nd CD Party Organizing Committee – Cathy Willermet, Isabella County and Karen Turnbull, Mecosta County had honed their presentation from the previous month to the fact that Michael Lynch needs election data from each of the 20 counties in CD 2. If we can all work together and assign one person from each of the 20 counties to enter election data into a google sheet, Michael Lynch will have what he needs.
Communications Committee – Mary Minnick, Lake County, Committee Chair reported she had invited Kimberly Thomas, Candidate for Michigan Supreme Court Judge to speak. Ms. Thomas introduced herself and described her background. She went on to say there are two races and she is in the race for the open seat. She was brief in her presentation, as she will be presenting in person at the May 11th meeting of the 2nd CD.

Karen Turnbull proposed a name change for the Award given for going above and beyond the norm in the 2nd CD. In the past it had been the True-Blue Award for the eight counties of the former 2nd CD. She was suggesting it be called the Streaming Blue Award. A new award name for a brand-new district. It was not meant to be disrespectful, but to be inclusive of all the new counties. Therefore, it was moved by Karen Turnbull, Mecosta County, and seconded by Cathy Willermet, Isabella County to HAVE THE BLUE GALA AWARD BE RENAMED THE STREAMING BLUE AWARD. It was then moved by K.P. Mahoney, Muskegon County, and seconded by Ed Miller, Mason County, TO TABLE THE MOTION UNTIL THE IN-PERSON MAY 11TH MEETING. MOTION CARRIED.
In the interim, an email will be sent to the entire 2nd CD with Karen Turnbull’s proposal for the Award Name Change along with a request for Legacy Nominees from County Chairs and Nominees for the Blue Gala Dinner Award.
