Indigenous Land Acknowledgement:
“The State of Michigan occupies the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Anishinabek – Three Fires Confederacy, the Odawa (Ottawa), Ojibwe (Chippewa), and Bodewadmi (Potawatomi). The Michigan Democratic Party recognizes historic Indigenous communities in Michigan and those forcibly removed from their homelands. We further recognize the ongoing relationship of dependence upon, and respect for, all living beings of earth, sky, and water. In offering this land acknowledgment, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history, and experiences.”

A). I reached out again to Ellie, Congresswomen Elissa Slotkin's director/coordinator and asked if the Congresswomen was available to be our keynote speaker at our May 11th 10am-noon meeting. The Congresswomen has a cousin’s wedding this day and will NOT be able to attend our meeting. Ellie did say that the Congresswomen may be able to speak at our August 10th in-person meeting. If she cannot make that one, we will work at putting together a special “one on one" VIP meeting in a local bar (TBD) in the 2nd CD like we did with the Attorney General Dana Nessel a few months back. I will update this information as I get it in the future.
B). For those who do not know, Leslie Love has pulled out of the U.S. Senate Race.
● Policy and Resolution Committee:
**We need to vote on the Resolution : Constitutional Amendment to repeal the Citizens United Supreme County Decision:

2). Are there any other members who would like to add their name to the delegate list for the National Convention in Chicago?

**Due to the number of counties in the 2nd CD, County Reports will be included with the meeting minutes from today. If you haven’t already submitted them, please do so as soon as possible. I add them to our website under the "County Parties" tab.
Good and Welfare:
1). From John Helge: "I have a question that I know you can answer, does the 2nd CD Committee have $1000 in an account that we can use to make a donation to support the MDP Rural Caucus 2024 Rural Summit that will be held April 11-13, 2024 at the Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire, MI? If this is possible, I will make a motion to do so at our Feb 10 meeting." Dallas has found the information on this request. Dallas please let us know what you found out today.
You may have noticed in West Michigan, the 3 new billboards that have gone up for the "Gun Buy Back" program. See below for a sample of what it looks like if you have not seen it yet.
