FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT FOR JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2024
Your finance committee has been busy since the December meeting.
1. We have located and reserved a space for our annual dinner on September 28, 2024, at the Riverwood Resort, 1313 E. Broomfield Rd., Mount Pleasant, Mi. Located just East of Remus and just South of M-20.
2. We have applied for our first Texas Hold’Em license for February 12-15, 2024.
3. We have three additional dates April 1-4, 2024, May13-16, 2024 and December 16-19, 2024.
4. As we greet 2024 with a favorable balance in our three accounts, we put forth this proposed budget for 2024.
5. FEDERAL ACCOUNT BALANCE $22,194.89.
A. Expected income from three Texas Hold’Em to be held prior to the 2024 General Election of $8,000.00
B. Expected income from Auctions, Ice Cream Social and Annual Dinner of $6,000.00.
C. Added together we will have $36,194.89 to get our District into the BLUE column in 2024.
D. As our bylaws call for support of our Congressional Candidate, $10,000.00 the maximum allowed by FEC rules, total allowed including any donations from the State Party (none expected) and any county party (none are expected) should be awarded by the following: a. $5,000.00 in the August Primary if only one candidate files. Deadline to file is April 23, 2024 b. $5,000.00 for the Candidate nominated in the August Primary as the Democratic Candidate for Congress. c. An amount will be set aside for the dinner and amended as funds from the dinner come in. d. Amounts to be determined by request to aid county parties with items like rent and utilities. All payment must be made to the Vendor (Landlord, Utility to be paid) as FEC rules do not allow payments a county party unless they have a FEC reported account. It is believed that only Newaygo County has such an account. e. Amount to be used to purchase yard signs, buttons, and printed material for Federal Candidates. Senate candidate chosen in the August Primary. Presidential yard signs can be purchased in quantity by the district. The $10,000.00 dollar limit for the Congressional Candidate prevents us from ordering the signs used by the candidate. f. A more detailed budget will be prepared as we get closer to the campaign season.
6. STATE ACCOUNT BALANCE IS $2573.00 A. Some additional income may come in as we hold auctions and additional fundraisers. The Federal account must raise $2.000.00 though nongaming to get four licenses (Maximum allowed) in 2025. Once that level is reached funds can then go into the State Account. Fundraisers such as the dinner where the cost is borne by the Federal Account then requires the income go to that account. B. Having fundraising events at the quarterly meetings can then be added to the State Account. C. State Funds can be shared with county parties by writing a check from our State Account to a county party’s account when funds are requested and approved by the district committee and/or party. D. Request must be made, and reason stated. A standard form will be provided to any county requesting funds.
7. ADMINISTRATION ACCOUNT BALANCE IS $142.96.
A. This account is funded by donations from Corporations and Union funds that are not PAC funds. The UAW often gives a donation and that has a disclaimer on the check that the funds can not ne used in Federal or State elections.
B. These limited funds are usually used for meeting refreshments.
