Call to Order – The meeting was called to order by Mary Minnick, Chair at 10:01 a.m.
Mary Minnick, Chair led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
In addition, Mark Everhart, Lake County, read the Land Acknowledgment Statement.
Guest Speaker
Michael Lynch, Candidate for 2nd Congressional District.

It was moved by Ed Miller, Mason County and seconded by Michael Lynch, Gratiot County to ACCEPT THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED.
There was one correctiona to the Minutes of the Previous Meeting, the MINUTES WOULD STAND APPROVED SHOWING CATHY WILLERMET IN ATTENDANCE.
Chair’s Report
Mary Minnick, Chair stated because of time constraints, her Chair’s Report could be found on the 2nd Congressional District Website https://www.michigan2nddemocrats.com/.
Vice Chair’s Report
John Helge Vice Chair’s report could also be found on the website. In addition, he encouraged all members to join the DEFUND MOOLENAAR website. Also, he had posted on the 2nd CD FaceBook page a link to an excellent video about rural voters.
Treasurer’s Report
Dallas Dean, Treasurer Newaygo County reported the balances of the Federal, State, Administrative, and Texas Hold ‘em Accounts. The State Account had a balance of $2,573.86, the Administrative Account had a balance of $142.96, the Federal Account had a balance of $8,017.89and the Texas Hold’em had a balance of $14,867.40.
Secretary’s Report
Peggy Raddatz, Secretary Manistee County stated she had received no correspondence.
Committee Reports
Rules and Bylaws Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County, Committee Chair stated there was no report at this time. However, he did want to mention delegates to the State Central Committee must submit a proxy or they will be marked absent.
Finance and Fundraising Committee – Dallas Dean, Newaygo County, Committee Chair stated there was no report at this time. However, he did want to mention they are looking for a site for the District Dinner.
Candidate Recruitment and Support Committee – Ed Miller, Mason County, Committee Chair stated there was not report at this time.
Political and 2nd CD Party Organizing Committee – Cathy Willermet, Isabella County stated she and Karen Turnbull will be meeting before the January 2nd CD meeting to come up with a strategy of which direction the Committee should take.
Communications Committee – Mary Minnick, Lake County, Committee Chair reported the guest speaker for February 10th, 2024 will be Leslie Love, Candidate for U.S. Senate. She also reported she was continuing to work on getting Elissa Slotkin to speak to our group. She continues her quest for newspaper contacts for the entire 2nd Congressional District.
Policy and Resolution Committee – John Helge stated there was no report at this time.
Audit Committee – Robin Aslaskin stated there was no report at this time.
Unfinished Business –
The District Committee had tabled Karen Turnbull's request to change the name of the Blue Wave Gala's Award Name at the November 11, 2023 meeting. Karen Turnbull, Mecosta County had no recommendations at this time, but would take it to the Political Organizing Committee for ideas. Members of the District Committee are welcome to submit suggestions to the Committee.
New Business –
Mary Minnick, Chair, Lake County suggested that Dallas Dean, Newaygo County Chair the May 11 2nd CD Convention where delegates to the National Democratic Convention are elected. Dallas Dean, Newaygo County accepted the honor.
Ed Miller, Mason County will be submitting a resolution from Mason County to the 2nd CD Policy and Resolutions Committee regarding a resolution recently passed by his party condemning the fighting and killing in the Middle East.
Dallas Dean, Newaygo County announced there probably will not be a MDP Endorsement Convention in May.
Cathy Willermet, Isabella County, will forward a resolution to the 2nd CD Policy and Resolutions Committee regarding a resolution from the State Central Committee and the overturn of Citizens United.
COUNTY CHAIR REPORTS
Mary Minnick, Chair Lake County, because time permitted, invited everyone to share County upcoming events.
