On June 10th, I went to the Wexford County Democratic Party's "Ruth Ginsberg Fundraiser Gala" held at the "After 26" restaurant in Cadillac, MI. It was a great turnout! I went around to each table to introduce myself and give my 2nd CD Chair's card to each person and to let the people know (since most were living in the 2nd CD) that we have a fantastic candidate for Congress in Michael Lynch and invited them all to come to our next meeting. I was pleasantly surprised to see the State Representative from the 103rd district, Betsy Coffia, was there! We had a few minutes to talk to each other. She has seen me around and we have met each other before but it was before her election. She said that even though she is not from Wexford County's district, she still likes to be invited to be a guest speaker at our county party's events so she can get our Democratic message out to the voters. I asked her if she would be willing to be a guest speaker for our 2nd CD even though she is in the 1st CD and she said "Of Course!". I will bring it up to our District Officers, District Members and County Chairs zoom meeting on July 8th if they would like to have her as a guest speaker for our party. Returning to the event, we had a great presentation about Justice Ginsberg. An original painting of RBG was raffled off as a door prize. Amanda Siggins, the Wexford County Chair did a great job organizing a fun evening for all who attended.
On June 12th, I reached out to Brenda Reeber of the "Starfish Buyback Program" The buyback program asks for volunteers to bring in their assault-type weapons in exchange for a $300.00 grocery gift card. I have invite Brenda Reeber to be a guest speaker at our 2nd CD meeting on July 8th and she has agreed.
On June 12th, I was invited to attend the Rural Caucus meeting. Once again, it was a fantastic Rural Caucus of the MDP! We learned how democrats and labor can work together to win elections with guest speaker Adam Saari - Labor Director for the U.P. Construction Council, and Field Representative for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 2.
Several Rural Caucus members recently attended the "Small Town Summit" in Missoula, MT and/or the Michigan Small Town and Rural Development Conference at Crystal Mountain. They shared a few things they learned.
Legislative and Policy updates were given by Joe Gutowski, Region 18 Vice Chair. All and all, a very productive meeting! Great job by the caucus chair Cathy Albro.
On June 13th, I attended the Michigan Democratic Party Chair's Call. I learned that there is a phone number that voters can use to find out what Bills are being voted on and when: 1-833-MIVOTE. Also I mentioned that the 2nd Congressional District's Resolution Committee is righting a Resolution to support the Gotion EV Battery Plant in Mecosta County (that Karen Turnbull had her party send to us with permission to re-write with our 2nd CD name on it). I was directed to send the Resolution to Christine Jenson at the MDP.
On June 14th, I sent the 2nd CD's Secretary Peggy Raddatz an email with the attached Resolution. I asked Peggy to please send an emergency MailChimp email to our District Officers, District Committee Members and County Chairs with the following:
"Thanks again Peggy for making a special email to our District Officers, District Committee Members and County Chairs for approval to send this Resolution from the 2nd CD Resolution's Committee. I (Mary Minnick) will send it to Christine Jenson at the Michigan Democratic Party once we have a majority of "Yes" votes. I hope to get these votes back ASAP and do not want to wait until our July 8th meeting because of it's important message.
Sincerely,
Mary Minnick"

On June 14th, I also attended the Clare County Democratic Party's monthly party meeting from 6:30pm through 8:00pm.
On June 16th, Secretary Peggy Raddatz sent out the MailChimp to our District Committee members asking for a vote on the Resolution supporting Gotion EV battery plant in Mecosta County, The Resolution Committee re-wrote what the Mecosta County Democratic Party's Resolution said. We used the copy that Karen Turnbull provided to us. Thank you Karen for ALL your hard work in bringing this important issue to the forefront.
On June 19th, I sent the final 2nd CD Resolution in support of the Gotion EV battery plant to Christine Jensen at the MDP, and to Governor Whitmer.
On June 24th, I attended State Central Committee in Dearborn, MI from 11:00am through 12:30pm
On June 25th, I was invited to Ionia County Democratic Party and Montcalm County Democratic Party’s " Pride and Progress" picnic from 2:00pm through 6:00pm in Greenville , MI. They got a few new members to join the MDP while I was there! Great event and a lot of fun too!
ON July 4th, I walked in the Manistee County Democratic Party’s Fourth of July parade.
On July 5th, I was able to secure our next in-person guest speaker U.S. Senate Candidate Pamala Pugh for our November 11th meeting at the Wheatland Township Hall in Remus, MI at 10:00 am.
