Michigan Will Allow 16-Year-Olds to Preregister to Vote.
The state will join 16 other states and the District of Columbia in allowing 16-year-olds to preregister to vote. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed the bill. The new law will go into effect Nov. 9, 2023:
The Michigan House of Representatives gave the final procedural OK to House Bill 4569 on Wednesday night. It passed the House in June and the Senate last week, both along party lines, with Democrats voting for and Republicans voting against.
Michigan already allows eligible people who are 17.5 years old to register to vote in preparation for the first election in which they would be 18. This bill extends that to Michiganders as young as 16.

LINE 5
Thank you!
We sent the second letter to the White House this afternoon – Express Mail with 44 signers’ support. The 2nd CD was apart of this success.
This shows that Michigan residents from Houghton County to Lenawee County and Congressional Districts are concerned about the increasing risk of a Line 5 failure in the Straits. The legal battle for this belongs in Michigan.
We are working on a post-carding campaign to follow through with help from our party members. More on that soon. There are still more counties and caucuses interested in joining this campaign. It looks like we have the staying power to keep on with this challenge that will be with us for a while under any scenario.
Thank you again from Bob Kennedy, Leonard Page and me! Let us know if you have any questions about how this legal process is proceeding. Leonard follows this closely.

Fla Gov. Ron DeSantis Comes to Michigan!!!
Time: Thursday, April 6 at 7 – 10am
Fla Gov. Ron DeSantis was the special guest at a private breakfast that was held in Midland, MI. Protesters lined the roads around the venue and show that in Michigan, we support equality for all, including: LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, First Amendment rights, public schools, reproductive rights, immigrant rights, and racial justice. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be called WOKE!
The protestors brought:
clever protest signs
rainbow flags
drag queens
rainbow t-shirts
What they didn't bring:
negativity!
Protestors were asked to park on the side of the road because they needed to keep the roadside clear for visibility and pedestrian safety. There was even a "Sign up to get details" on the venue address and suggestions for where to park. Want to see that special message directly from the Midland County Democratic Party - Jennifer Lynn Austin?

Good afternoon!
I have some amazing news for you all! Women Veterans Recognition Day as a Holiday, (Championed by Representative Julie Rogers, HB 4555) passed on the Senate Floor yesterday with no opposition and Governor Whitmer will sign it Monday to make Women Veterans Recognition Day, June 12, an official holiday in Michigan! This year as you know, is even more special, because it’s the 75th anniversary of the Women’s Armed Forces Integration Act and we are going to celebrate!
At our leadership summit I let folks know that we would be live streaming the event that is being held in Detroit so service organization posts and other veteran orgs could celebrate women veterans in their community. So here is the link as promised: https://rock-meet.zoom.us/j/95182711366 I would love to hear of folks around the state getting together for this!
Program will start at 5pm and end at 6pm. We have a great line-up of folks: Representative Julie Rogers, Director of MVAA Adam Hollier, Amy Bishop, Lorrena Black, and Irene Hosking! I will be the MC and keep the show rolling! 😊
