June 2024 Report from John Helge 2nd CD Committee Vice-Chairperson
I want to thank the members of the MDP 2nd CD Committee who voted for me to become a delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. I am honored to be chosen to represent the 2nd Congressional District at this convention where we will be formally nominating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our candidates for President and Vice President of the USA!
I was asked to provide a statement for the local Manistee paper about Trump’s convictions. Here is what they printed:
The fact that no person is above the law in the United States was firmly proven with the 34 guilty verdicts handed down by a jury of ordinary citizens yesterday. The defendant, who is a former president of the United States and the presumptive Republican candidate for the 2024 election, is now a convicted felon. The Republican party would be better served to abandon this deeply flawed candidate and nominate a true leader with the courage to stand up to the ultra-MAGA crowd, work across the political divide, and meet the challenge of governing for the benefit of all the people.
Here is what MAGA Moolenaar said:
Republican U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar, of Caledonia, said he believes the trial should have never taken place. "It was a political maneuver by a liberal, biased prosecutor and judge. I hope the appeal process is swift so we may focus on the needs of the American people," Moolenaar stated in a press release.
Moolenaar continues to send emails and make posts focused on inflation and blaming the Biden administration. His posts all look to be boilerplate taken directly from the MAGA playbook. He continues to try to derail the Gotion battery plan project by creating fear and division trying to tie it directly to the Chinese Communist Party.
